WE'RE WORTH IT!

WE'RE WORTH IT!

Bye Bye Pancake Day – Hello Mothering Sunday!  These celebrations seem to come thicker and faster than ever and we’re up to our ears in gift ideas for this one, which is only a couple of weeks away.  But if it’s a lovely day for some, it’s undoubtedly difficult for others.  This year, and for the first time in 31 years, I’m no longer in a Polly sandwich with my children on one side and my mother on the other.   I have no idea how it will feel: strange maybe; poignant definitely, but I will try hard not to let it be sad.  Mum would very definitely not have approved!  So I’ll focus on the best bits, mindful of those whose circumstances are different.  I will just have got back from a working week in Argyll so doubtless there will be lots to catch up on here at L&F HQ including an empty fridge, a pile of ironing and a loaded in-tray.  Ah yes: motherhood.  It isn’t all fluffy robe wrapped cherubs at bathtime, or sofa snuggles by the fire.  I wouldn’t have it any other way, but it’s pigging hard work and seemingly endless: hats off to us mothers, one and all.  And to anyone who has or has had a mother, or who wants to be one or has been one, and to anyone who is struggling with any of the above.  In one way or another Mother’s Day is for everyone.  Celebrate it how you will, from whichever vantage point you have, but please do celebrate it.  Because we’re all worth it.
