TIME FLIES

Is it just us, or are the nights really drawing in?  Mr Irvine’s grandmother used to say they were, every year without fail, starting on about 1 August – but here we are a week into September and I’m sure they are, already.  That suits me just fine: there’s nothing I love more than a dark and cold afternoon and the excuse to light the fire and draw the curtains.  But I admit to feeling somewhat short changed this year.  Apart from a quick blast of sticky heat in July, it has been relentlessly yuck this summer.  So we’ve made our sunshine: Potted Shrubs and Starfish and our gorgeous Roses have been great sellers this year and have lifted and lightened the mood for lots of us.  Don’t miss out – bring back the heady days of summer we wish we’d had, and treat yourself today!
