THE CHRISTMAS TREES COMETH

THE CHRISTMAS TREES COMETH

Speaking of new traditions, as we were …. here at L&F HQ it has become something of a thing that Isobel and I go and choose the trees for inside the house.  (There’s a huge Wellingtonia in the garden that could do with some brightening up, but the National Grid would break …) This year we seem to have taken two goes at the job, which sounds excessive, but may be partly explained by the habit we have formed of having tea and cake after trudging round muddy fields in the freeeeeezing wind.  It’s fair to say that we have nailed two corkers – but that the larger is about 3’ too tall and will require some work before a) we can get it into place, and b) Mr L&F sees it.  The offcuts will be used for garlanding, and the spare bit of trunk as fire wood, so there will be no wastage, but Christmas here always begins with the great Trees Debate.  Such fun!
