The eagle-eyed among you will have noticed that this week’s blog is in fact 24hrs late. Nice though it would be to assert that this is because Isobel and I have been digging ourselves out from under a huge pile each of Valentine’s Day cards and gifts, that wouldn’t be true, so I won’t. The reality is that sometimes, however hard one tries, things get out of kilter and matters slip – birthdays are forgotten, groceries aren’t bought, appointments are missed and blogs don’t get written. And yet. The sky hasn’t fallen on my head; nobody here has gone hungry; and you, my avid reader, are now enjoying the fruits of my labour. So let’s take a moment to relish the things left undone, and to consider how many of them are actually critical. Assuming we can each bin even one of them, let’s undertake now to spend the time saved, doing something we actually want to do. Not need: want. Light a smelly candle (coincidentally we are newly restocked – just saying …) and have a lovely bath. Read a bit more of the book you started weeks ago. Look at the sky. Go on – indulge yourself. Because you’re worth it.
