SUN DANCER REQUIRED

SUN DANCER REQUIRED

Don’t anyone mention it, but the weather tomorrow is kind of important to us.  We don’t ask much – we don’t want grilling heat and glorious blue and gold, nice though those would be.  We’d just like no rain please, ahead of our Late Summer Fair, in aid of Lincs/Notts Air Ambulance and The ‘M’ Word.  It’s all getting a bit exciting, I have to admit – we have some of our stallholders set up and ready to go already, and we have 300 scones in the freezers ready to thaw from 0600 tomorrow morning.  We have gallons of Pimms and piles of fruit; we have rosettes coming out of our ears and signs up in this village and many others, pointing people in our direction whether or not that’s where they want to go.  We have home-made ice cream by the pint, a small team of helpers (including the Wiltshire posse of school leavers who are on their way – you know who you are, ladies) lined up: all we need now is a kind weather day, and for people through the gate.  Otherwise it’s going to be deep-fried scones and jam for breakfast for weeks to come.  So if you’re here or hereabouts, or you know someone who is, and you feel like engaging in a very low-key, gentle way, do come.  We’d love to see you – and so would our business and charity colleagues.
