The eagle-eyed amongst you will have spotted that last week was blog-free: our apologies for that. ‘Events, dear boy, events’ is the only answer, but the good news is that we’re back on track and raring to go – and with news of yet more fairs on the horizon. (Pause for a fortifying deep breath.) We’re all over the place in the best possible way: Rockingham Castle in September, the Beaufort in November, Country Living in London in December. All we need now is somewhere lovely in October and that’ll be us for another year. Next month is annual leave month, when L&F slides quietly into the background for a week or two – we’ll still be taking orders, and you won’t be rid of us entirely, but we’ll be on our jolly hollybobs and slow to do much, other than to sit and watch the snails whizz by. Where? Argyll of course. My mother used to say ‘it isn’t so much a holiday as a change of kitchen sink.’ When I was little I couldn’t think what she meant, but as I got older and had children of my own I began to understand. And now that I’m waiting – with VERY bad grace and a lot of audible impatience – for grandchildren, I totally get it. Home is where the heart is, and if you have a family that means a kitchen. So unleash the ecover, pass me the Marigolds - be they north of the border or south - and bring on August!
