Another day, another chance to sell … this time it’s at nearby Belvoir Castle’s glorious Flower Show. It has been a full-on week what with one thing and another and it’s lovely to be back in the swing of packing, loading, unloading and displaying. My favourite bit is without doubt meeting our lovely customers and talking to them about what we do and why, but I have to say (embarrassing disclosure incoming) that in a very Monica Geller way – please tell me you know who she is – I also relish the clearing up and putting away afterwards. I know for a fact that my estimable business partner is very well aware of this and plays on it: she’s brilliant at setting up and dismantling but vanishes in a puff of smoke when it comes to getting things straight again afterwards. I’m callously left to climb inelegantly and repeatedly over and round crates stacked in the L&F office while I put everything away, only to reverse the whole procedure again towards the other end of the week ready for our next outing. But today, the first day of the 351 until the opening of Wimbledon 2026, I’m not grumbling and I need distraction. So it’s busy-ness again as usual, and while the heat is annoying given the wet of last weekend, this is a very lovely corner of the country to be standing in on a glorious Sunday in July. And the best news? We’re about ten feet from an ice-cream van and twenty from a mobile barista. Life doesn’t get much better.
