Last weekend we had a wonderful two days selling in Fakenham, at the Norfolk Artisans Christmas Fair. It was fabulous to be back in the mix and out in the crisp (that’s a euphemism if ever there was one) East Anglian air: it really does feel like the beginning of the best bit of the year when the lights come on at 4pm and you can see your breath with every word uttered. Napkins went down a storm, and our gorgeous Baubles, and Soaps – Holly Aprons are a perennial favourite and Shelagh the mannequin (whose head we sadly mislaid on Friday: but she’s very good and hardly complained) ended up losing what little dignity she had left as we literally took her attire off her and sold it as she stood there in the frosty dusk. So a huge thank you to all who came out and supported not only us but the other 119 stalls – without you, nothing. Black Friday is wonderful if you’re a big outfit that can bear the price slashes, but those of us trying very hard on the front line, in the face of enormous odds, need you. Keep coming; keep buying; keep supporting the little people as well as the giants. In person or on-line, your hard earned cash is very much appreciated, and the personal contact and engagement alone is worth its weight in gold - for buyers and sellers alike. Some things are priceless, and human contact is one of them. See you soon!
